Independence means nobody stops you. That’s exactly why you have to.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The part of independence nobody advertises is that the stopping becomes your job. No one tells you to go to bed, do the reading, come home or stop spending, and the freedom is genuine and so is the absence of brakes. That is why the first year alone catches people out. Being your own limit is a skill, not a mood.
Pick one thing nobody is currently enforcing and enforce it yourself for a fortnight: a bedtime, a spending cap, a study hour. Write it down, because a rule held only in your head bends silently. Doing it now is easier than learning it all at once later.
What would you have to stop yourself from doing now?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
