Approval is nice. Needing it is expensive.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Liking approval is ordinary, and requiring it is what costs you. Once it becomes necessary, every decision has to be run past an audience, and the choices that survive are the ones that look good rather than the ones that are right. The price is paid in opportunities you did not take and opinions you did not voice. Enjoying praise and depending on it are different arrangements.
Do one thing this week that you expect nobody to compliment. Finish it, do not post it, and notice the gap where the reaction would have gone. That gap is the thing worth getting comfortable with.
What has wanting approval cost you in the past year?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
