Being reachable every minute isn’t a personality trait. It’s a leak.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Always being reachable gets described as a trait, as though it were a form of generosity. It behaves more like a gap in the wall: attention goes out of it continuously, in small amounts, all day, and none of the individual leaks look like they matter. The total is a day that never quite belongs to you and work that never gets a clear run.

Patch one stretch rather than the whole day. Take two hours, be properly unavailable, then answer everything afterwards. The point is not being hard to reach, but that reaching you costs something and so gets aimed better.
