Let the drama in the hallway finish without you. It doesn’t need an audience to end.

Conflicts stay alive on attention. Everybody who stops to watch, repeat or react gives the thing another day of life, and the people inside it perform harder once there is a crowd. Walking past is not cowardice or coldness. It removes the one thing the argument needs to keep going.

When something flares up this week, decide in the first few seconds that you will not relay it to anyone. Do not ask what happened and do not pass it along. Watch how quickly it runs out of fuel.
