Being independent doesn’t mean refusing a hand when you’re moving a couch up three floors.

Doing everything alone is not independence, only a harder way to live. Some jobs genuinely need four hands, and refusing help on principle costs you time, your back, and somebody else’s chance to be useful. Accepting a hand is not a debt you have taken on. It is how people stay in each other’s lives.

Ask for help this week with one thing you have been grinding through solo, and be specific about the time and the task. Then say yes when the favor comes back around.
