Street view keeps old photos of your block. Look back and see how much changed while you weren’t watching.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Change at daily resolution is invisible. Shops close, trees grow, buildings go up, and because you saw each day’s version you never registered any of it, which is why your sense of the place is a blur of all its versions at once. An old photograph works as a second measurement, and two measurements is all you need to see motion.

Spend ten minutes tonight looking at your street a few years back. Then do the same thing with yourself: find a photo from two years ago and look at it as evidence rather than as a judgement on your face. Both show you more than today did.
