Umpires miss some calls even with years of training. If the pros can’t see everything, cut yourself some slack.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Missing things is not a flaw you can train out, it is built into how eyes and attention work. People who do it professionally, with years behind them and nothing else to look at, still get a share of calls wrong, and nobody thinks they are frauds for it. The standard you are holding yourself to does not exist anywhere in the world.

So separate the mistake from the verdict on yourself. Fix what can be fixed, apologise if somebody got hurt by it, and then stop, because a third hour of replaying it adds nothing. Correcting things quickly matters more than never missing.
