There are parts of you permanently out of your own view and in plain sight for everybody else. No amount of self-examination reaches them, which is why honest friends are not a luxury but the only instrument available for that area. A friend who only ever agrees with you is leaving you with a patch you cannot cover alone.

Work out who in your life actually tells you things, and make it easy for them. Thank them when it stings instead of going quiet for two days. Then do the same job for somebody else once this week, kindly, in private, about one thing.
