The stars wheel across the sky all night because the earth is turning, not the sky. Sometimes you’re the one moving.

It genuinely looks as though everything above you is travelling and you are standing still. The opposite is true and you cannot feel it, which is a good reminder of how convincing the wrong frame can be. The same error turns up closer to home, when everybody seems to have changed, drifted or gone cold, and the thing that moved is you.

Ask the awkward question this week if several relationships feel different at once. What have I changed, in how much I reply, what I talk about, how available I have been. If it is you, that is good news, because that is the half you can adjust.
