A drop of pond water looks empty until you look closer. So does a “boring” day.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Emptiness is often just low resolution. Put a bead of pond water under a lens and it turns out to be crowded, and an uneventful Tuesday behaves much the same way under closer inspection. Boredom is frequently a report on how hard you were looking rather than on what was actually there.

Take one ordinary day this week and write down five things that genuinely happened in it, including the small ones. Read the list back before you sleep. The day will turn out to have been busier than the verdict you gave it.
