Nobody else can break in your boots for you. Some parts of growing up don’t come with a substitute.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some things cannot be handed off, and most of the important ones are like that. Nobody can do your practice, sit your exam, have your difficult conversation or get used to your new job on your behalf, and the discomfort of the early stage is not evidence that you are doing it wrong. It is just what that stage feels like from the inside.

Take the thing you have been hoping somebody else would handle and do the first fifteen minutes of it yourself. Ask for help with the method rather than the task. Expect the first few attempts to feel awkward and do them anyway.
