Read the text you almost sent before you delete it. It’s a pretty honest snapshot of how you felt.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
An unsent message is an unusually honest document. It got written before you edited for consequences, which is why it says the thing plainly, and the decision not to send it is usually about timing rather than about accuracy. Deleting it on the spot throws away the clearest statement you have of what you actually felt.
Before you clear one out, read it back once and find the true sentence underneath the heat. Decide whether that sentence needs saying later, in calmer words. Then delete the rest with a clear conscience.
What did the message you never sent say about your mood?
