Some days you eat alone because nobody asked. Some days because you needed the quiet. Learn to tell which.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The same lunch can mean two different things, and the difference is whether you chose it. Quiet you picked restores you; quiet handed to you stings, and pretending otherwise does not help. Being honest about which one today was keeps you from treating a hard day as a preference, or a good hour as a problem.
After a solo lunch, ask plainly which it was. If you wanted the quiet, have it without justifying yourself. If nobody asked and that hurt, let that be true, and then message one person about tomorrow. Asking is less dramatic than it feels, and the answer is often yes.
