Staring out the window isn’t always laziness. A wandering mind is often quietly sorting things out.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A mind that looks idle is often busy with work you cannot watch. Left alone it sorts the day, connects things and finishes thoughts you abandoned halfway, which is why answers arrive in the shower or on a bus rather than at a desk. Constant input prevents that, since nothing gets sorted while the feed keeps coming. Doing nothing is a stage of thinking rather than the absence of it.

Give yourself fifteen minutes this week with no screen and no plan, by a window or anywhere dull. Resist the urge to make it productive. Notice what gets handed to you by the end.
