Talking to yourself out loud while you work through a problem is normal. A lot of people think better that way.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Thinking out loud is a real technique rather than a quirk. Saying a problem aloud forces it into order, exposes the step you skipped, and turns a vague tangle into a sequence somebody could follow. Teachers and coaches do it constantly; it only looks odd when the audience is nobody. Plenty of people cannot think properly any other way.

Try it on purpose with the next thing that has you stuck, somewhere nobody will be startled. Explain it from the start, as though to somebody who knows nothing. Notice where you hesitate, because that is the part you do not understand yet, and go and learn exactly that bit.
