If you broke a promise to yourself, admit it plainly and start again. Shame just makes you hide from the next one.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Shame and accountability pull in opposite directions, which is what catches people out. Admitting plainly that you did not do the thing takes a few seconds and leaves the plan intact; the shame version turns one missed day into a verdict, and a verdict makes you avoid the subject, which is how a broken promise becomes an abandoned one. The first failure was never the problem.
Say it in one flat sentence: I said I would and I did not. No explanation and no insults. Then name the next occasion and take that one, today if you can. Starting again the same day is the whole skill.
Which promise to yourself could you simply restart tomorrow?
