Strategy is knowing what game you’re actually playing. Most fights at school aren’t about what they’re “about.”

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Disputes about a seat, a group chat, a missing jacket are usually standing in for something else: who belongs, who was embarrassed, who feels replaceable. Arguing the surface version cannot settle it, because resolving the stated point leaves the real one untouched. That is why these things keep restarting over new details.

When something flares up, ask yourself what it is really about before you respond to what was said. Often the answer is that somebody felt pushed out. Addressing that, even indirectly, ends the argument faster than winning the version being spoken.
