Scout bees check a flower patch before the colony commits. Test small before you go all in.

Colonies send a few bees out first and only commit once there is a report worth acting on. Checking costs almost nothing beside the cost of moving everything to the wrong place. Most decisions allow the same approach: one shift, one session, one module, one month. Trials are cheap, and certainty bought any other way is expensive.
Take the big thing you are considering and design a small version you could finish inside a fortnight. One class, one trial session, a borrowed instrument, a single Saturday working there. Decide in advance what would count as a good result.
How could you test this cheaply before committing fully?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
