Stuff you overhear isn’t yours to spend. Using it costs more trust than it ever buys.

Information you picked up by accident never actually became yours. Using it tells everyone in range that proximity to you is risky, and that reputation attaches fast and comes off slowly. Whatever you win with the overheard thing is tiny next to the number of things people will stop saying anywhere near you.
When you catch something not meant for you, treat it as though you did not. If it matters to someone, you can ask them about it directly. If it was never yours to know, let it be the end of it.
What have you overheard that you should never repeat?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
