The trophy says first place in 2019. It doesn’t say who carried the water. Every win has names that never make the plaque.

Any result is produced by more people than it credits. A plaque has room for a team name and a year, which leaves out the assistant coach, the parent driving the van, the player who ran the scout team and never got minutes. Records are short by design and the work behind them never was.

Name the uncredited people out loud after the next win, to their faces rather than in general. If you are one of them this season, the work still counts and the people in that room know it. Being left off the printed list is not the same as not mattering.
