Age makes some possessions less impressive and certain freedoms more valuable.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The impressive object stops doing much for you and the ability to leave on a Tuesday, refuse work you do not want, or take an afternoon off becomes obviously more valuable. That trade looks different at twenty-five, when possessions still communicate something you need communicated.
Ask what a purchase costs in freedom, not only in money. The commitment, the payments, the ongoing obligation. Some things are worth it. Many are a straight exchange of options for objects, and it is worth making that trade knowingly.
Which freedom would you now choose over a nicer possession?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
