Not every open door improves the room you end up in. The promotion, the move, the offer: some of them add money and remove everything you were using the money for. Opportunity is not a synonym for benefit, and turning one down is a legitimate decision rather than a failure of ambition.

When something arrives, ask what your ordinary Tuesday would look like afterward. If the answer is worse in ways that matter, that is a real answer, whatever the opportunity looks like from outside.
