Today is a small life all by itself. Morning, middle, end. Don’t skip it while chasing tomorrow.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A day has the shape of a whole life if you look at it: a start you can still direct, a middle that is mostly work, an end you get to spend. Most of us treat today as a corridor to walk through on the way to something better, which is how years go by unlived. The future is built out of days like this one, and there is no other material.

Take one of today’s three parts and actually have it. Eat lunch away from a screen, walk home the long way, give the last half hour to something you like. Then notice that the day happened.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Are you skipping today while you chase tomorrow?
