Clocks get replaced, recipes get updated, tools wear out. What someone taught you how to be doesn’t wear out.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Objects are the fragile part of an inheritance. The clock stops, the recipe gets changed by whoever makes it next, the tools go to somebody who needs them, and none of that was the main thing you were given. How to handle being wrong, how to treat a stranger, what counts as a good day: that was taught too, and it does not break.

Name one person who taught you something about how to be, and name the specific lesson. Then use it once this week on purpose, somewhere it costs you a little. Passing it on is more reliable than keeping any of their stuff.
