Ask how your family ended up in this town. Somebody made a big, scary choice so you could be here.

You live where you live because somebody moved. A job, a war, a marriage, a guess about a better life: at some point a person with less information than you have packed up and went, and that decision is the reason your address exists. They were frightened while doing it. Knowing that tends to change how a scary choice of your own feels.

Ask a parent or grandparent how the family got here, and what they left behind to do it. Write the answer down somewhere you will keep. It is the most useful family story there is, because it is about somebody your size making a hard choice.
