Somebody who loves you might keep one of your voicemails for years. Leave good ones.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A voice is harder to replace than a face. Photographs are everywhere, and recordings of how somebody actually sounded, the particular way they said your name, are rare, which is why people hold on to one saved message long after the phone it came from is gone. You are leaving those by accident right now, and most of them are you asking where somebody is.
Leave a real one occasionally: say what you are calling about, say one specific thing, and sound like yourself. When somebody you love does not pick up, that is a chance rather than a nuisance. Thirty seconds is plenty.
