Show up to their recital, game or art show. Sitting in the audience says “you matter” in every language.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Attendance is a message that needs no words. Spending two hours in a hard chair watching something you do not understand communicates what a text cannot, because it costs time rather than attention, and the person on stage counts the faces they know in the first ten seconds. They will remember who was there. They will not remember how well they did.

Find out when the next one is for somebody in your life and put it in your calendar before the week fills up. Go even if you are tired, and say one specific thing about it afterwards. Being in the room is nearly the whole job.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose next performance could you actually sit in the audience for?
