Your grandpa sealed deals with a handshake. Your word should hold up that well, even in a text.

The medium changed and the obligation did not. A handshake worked because there was nothing behind it except somebody’s willingness to be known as a person who keeps their word, and a typed yes carries exactly the same weight, even though it feels lighter for taking two seconds. Casual channels invite casual promises. The cost of breaking one is identical.

Go back through what you have agreed to in messages this week and check whether you meant all of it. Do the ones you forgot. And slow down before typing yes to something, because a quick yes is still a yes.
