Honest and tell-all aren’t the same thing. The people close to you are owed the truth, not every detail.

Honesty is about not misleading people. It is not an obligation to narrate everything, and the two get confused often enough that some people share far too much and call it integrity. You can decline to discuss something without lying about it. The line is whether your silence leaves someone with a false picture of what they are dealing with.
When you are deciding what to say, ask whether leaving it out would mislead them. If it would, say it. If it is simply private, you are allowed to say that it is private, which is itself an honest answer.
What truth do you owe someone without owing every detail?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
