Trusting someone isn’t believing they’ll never mess up. It’s believing they’ll own it when they do.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Nobody can promise a clean record, so trust built on that assumption breaks on the first mistake. The useful version is a prediction about repair. Will this person tell me when they have got something wrong, or will I find out later from somebody else? That is the question that actually determines whether you can rely on them, and it has nothing to do with being faultless.

Watch what somebody does in the hour after a mistake rather than how often they make them. And be the one who goes first with your own, before anyone comes asking, because that is how other people learn the same thing about you.
