Some of adulthood’s best medicine is remembering how to waste an hour happily.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Somewhere in becoming an adult, most people learn to feel guilty about unaccounted time. Every hour acquires a justification, and rest becomes something you earn or recover with rather than something you simply have. The ability to spend an hour with no purpose and no guilt is a genuine skill, and it tends to get quietly lost.
Take an hour this week that is not recovery, not preparation, and not a reward. Read something you will never use, sit outside, follow an interest that leads nowhere. If a voice starts adding up what that hour cost you, notice it, and let the hour stay useless on purpose.
What did you happily waste whole hours on as a child?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
