Your siblings know every one of your worst habits and still save you a plate. That’s loyalty without a speech.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Knowing somebody completely and still feeding them is a particular kind of acceptance. Siblings have the full inventory: how you are in the mornings, what you are like when you lose, the thing you do that everybody else finds charming and they find exhausting. None of it is news to them, and the plate is still there. That is not approval, which is smaller.
Notice it when it happens, since it is designed not to be noticed. Do the equivalent for them this week rather than saying anything about it. And on the days you cannot stand each other, remember that the plate has not stopped appearing.
Who knows your worst habits and still sets food aside for you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
