A friendship that needs to be the only one is not strong, it is nervous. People who feel secure with you can watch you get close to somebody else without reading it as a loss. The room you leave for other people is part of what makes you easy to stay close to.

Notice whether you feel a pinch when a friend mentions somebody new. If you do, say something generous instead of something cool. Ask about the new person by name, and invite them along once. Jealousy shrinks when a stranger becomes someone you have met.
