Getting benched is information, not just insult. Ask what it’s telling you.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Sitting out stings first and informs second, and most people leave before the second part arrives. A coach making that decision has a reason, and it is usually narrower than a verdict on whether you are any good: a position, a fitness gap, a habit in training. The insult is loud and the information is quiet.

Let the first reaction pass, then ask straight out what would get you back on. Ask for something to work on this week rather than reassurance. Keep training as though you were playing, because that is who gets looked at again.
