Telling a friend “that hurt” is more honest than going cold and hoping they figure it out.

Withdrawal is a message nobody can read. You know exactly why you have gone quiet, and from the outside it looks like a mood, a bad week, or nothing at all, so the hurt goes unanswered while the distance does its work. Going cold protects you from a short conversation by arranging a long problem.
Say the plain thing instead, as close to the event as you can manage: what happened and how it landed. Keep it to a sentence and leave out the case for why you are right. Most friends would rather have the sentence than the silence.
Who hurt you while you went quiet instead of saying so?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
