Asking friends until one finally agrees with you isn’t getting advice. It’s shopping for a verdict.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
There is a kind of asking that is really recruiting. You already know what you want to do, so you keep going until somebody says the sentence you were looking for, and then you treat it as permission. The decision was made before the first conversation, and everybody you asked was part of a search rather than a consultation.
Notice if you have put the same question to more than two people. If so, stop and admit what you have already decided. Then take the answer you liked least and spend five minutes seriously considering it.
How many people did you ask before someone said what you wanted?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
