Details become noise only after relevance has been determined.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Nothing is inherently a distraction. A detail becomes noise only once you know what you are trying to achieve, because relevance is defined by the question. Without that, you either drown in everything or, more often, filter by habit and discard the thing that mattered while feeling efficiently focused.
Before you start filtering, be explicit about what you are actually deciding. Then the sorting almost does itself, and the things you set aside are set aside for a reason you could state. If you are unsure what to ignore, the missing piece is usually the question, not the discipline.
What are you ignoring before deciding whether it matters?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
