Got lucky? Say so. Calling luck skill sets you up to count on it next time.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Mislabelling a lucky outcome is not mainly a modesty problem, it is a planning problem. If you file a fortunate result as something you can do, you will build the next attempt on a foundation that was never there, and the gap turns up at the worst possible moment. The account you keep of yourself has to be accurate to be any use.
After something goes unexpectedly well, name the parts that were luck out loud, even if only to yourself. Then ask what you would need in place to get that result without it.
Where are you counting on luck that you mistook for skill?
