You didn’t run out of time. You spent it, and you know where.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Time does not leak away on its own. It goes somewhere specific, and almost always you could name the place if asked directly. Saying you ran out turns a series of choices into weather, something that happened to you, and weather cannot be negotiated with. Choices can.

For two days, write down where the hours went, roughly, with no editing and no plan to improve anything yet. The point is not guilt but knowing which hours are actually available to you before you promise them to something.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where did your evening actually go before the work went undone?
