Saying “I can’t do that yet” is honest. “I can’t do that” is a decision.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

One word changes a report into a ruling. Yet describes where you currently are and leaves the future open, while the shorter version closes it and quietly settles a question you never actually tested. Most of the time that decision gets made casually, in a sentence you did not think of as a sentence about your life.

Listen for your own absolutes this week and put the word back. Then ask the follow-up it invites: what the next step toward being able to do it would look like. One answer beats a hundred repetitions of the flat version.
