If the new hire keeps asking someone else instead of you, there might be a reason.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
People choose who to ask based on how the last question went. If a new person routes around you, it is rarely about your knowledge, it is about the sigh, the speed, the sense of being an interruption. None of that is usually on purpose, which is exactly why it goes unnoticed. You are the one person who cannot see your own face while you answer.
Notice who comes to you and who does not, without turning it into a verdict on yourself. Then make one question easy: turn toward them, answer the thing, add one extra detail. Being easy to ask is a small skill that pays for years.
Why would a new colleague take their questions past you?
