“Wait, I’m lost” might be the most useful sentence ever said in a classroom, and the least said.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Most of the room is partly lost, and each person stays quiet assuming they are the only one. The silence gets read as understanding, so the class moves on, and the gap you did not mention sits there collecting the next three topics on top of it. The sentence is hard because it feels like an announcement about you. It is actually a request about the material.
Ask once this week, in the moment rather than afterward, and keep it short. You will probably hear relief behind you. If asking in front of everyone is too much, catch the teacher at the end, but do it the same day.
What stops you from saying out loud that a lesson lost you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
