Sometimes the independent decision is admitting you cannot responsibly do everything alone.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Sometimes the most self-directed thing available is to say that you cannot carry all of this responsibly. Not that you are weak, but that the load is genuinely beyond one person and pretending otherwise puts the outcome, and possibly other people, at risk. Making that call is a decision, and it takes more independence than continuing quietly would.

If something you are holding has grown past what one person can do well, say so before it breaks. Name what would need to change. That statement is the responsible act, and it is a good deal harder than persevering.
