The person pictured online cannot control every future room that picture enters.

A picture put online travels into contexts nobody anticipated, a screenshot, a search result years later, a room where the person is not present to explain. The image is fixed and the situations it enters are not, and the subject has no say over any of them.

Be thoughtful about posting other people, especially children, and ask first when you can. And with your own images, assume any of them may appear anywhere at any time. That assumption is not paranoia, it is simply how the technology works, and it is better made before posting than after.
