The same park can feel like leisure to a visitor and surveillance to someone without a home.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
For a visitor, a park is somewhere to sit and read. For someone without a home, the same park is a place where their presence is monitored, where sitting too long draws attention, and where the rules that seem invisible to everyone else are enforced. Same benches, entirely different experience.
When you are in a shared space, notice who is being watched and who is not. And be careful about complaints that a space feels uncomfortable, since the response is usually to remove the people rather than to address why they have nowhere else to be.
Where do you relax that other people are moved along from?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
