The question who authorized this matters differently from the question who will live with it.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Authorisation and consequence sit in different places. Asking who signed off tells you where blame belongs, which matters for accountability and very little else. Asking who lives with the result tells you whether the decision is any good, and it is the question most likely to be skipped, because the people who can answer it are usually not in the room.
Before any decision you are part of, spend a minute on the second question specifically and by name. Who, concretely, wakes up inside this next year. If nobody present can answer, that is a reason to find someone who can before proceeding rather than after.
Who will live longest with a decision you recently approved?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
