If you could edit a memory, would you still trust the person you became from it?

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

You were made by what happened to you, including the parts you would remove. Take out the humiliation and you take out whatever caution or empathy came from it, and the person left is not a cleaner version of you but a different one. The desire to edit a memory is usually a desire to have arrived here by a gentler road, which is not the same as wanting to be someone else.

Sit with one hard memory and ask what it built rather than what it cost, without pretending the cost was worth it. Some things cause damage and nothing else, and that is allowed to be true. The question is whether you would trade the person you are for not having gone through it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which hard memory shaped you in a way you would not undo?
