The person called naturally gifted may never get to admit which parts feel unnatural.

RESILIENCE
Calling someone naturally good at something closes a door. Once the ability is treated as innate, they cannot easily say which parts cost them, which parts they find genuinely hard, or that they practise more than anyone realises. The compliment removes the vocabulary for difficulty and leaves them alone with it.
Praise the specific work rather than the talent, especially with young people. And if you have been given the label, saying that a particular part is hard for you is not a confession of fraud. It is usually a relief to everyone, including whoever was measuring themselves against you.
What are you assumed to find easy that costs you real effort?
