The first day in a new place has more edges than the hundredth.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
First days are full of detail because nothing has been filed away yet. Every corner, sound, and face requires attention, and that constant attention is what makes the day feel both long and vivid. By the hundredth day the same place has smoothed into background, which is comfortable and also the reason time starts moving faster in familiar surroundings.
Use this when you want a stretch of life to feel longer rather than to pass unnoticed. Take an unfamiliar route, sit somewhere new, do a known thing in an unknown place. And when you are new somewhere and exhausted by it, the tiredness is the work of learning, not evidence that you do not belong.
What did you notice on your first day somewhere that you no longer see?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
