The art called difficult may be asking for an unfamiliar kind of participation.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Work called difficult is often asking for a different kind of attention rather than a higher intelligence. It wants slowness, or repeated visits, or a willingness to sit without understanding for a while, and those are habits rather than gifts. Calling it difficult puts the obstacle in the work when it usually sits in the mode of encounter.

If something has defeated you, try changing how you approach it before concluding it is beyond you. Give it a second visit with no expectation of grasping it. Let it be confusing on purpose. Most of what people call acquired taste is really acquired patience, and patience is available to anyone willing to spend it.
